How to Avoid Meetings with Disorganized Clients
One of my pet peeves is spending too much time in unproductive meetings, especially at client sites. You might think that is odd, especially if you bill by the hour – because you are getting paid just the same. But when you have estimated a certain amount of hours for a project, unproductive meetings just burn clients’ money unnecessarily. So how do I correct for situtaions where too many meetings are bound to happen? I specify in my rate quote how many meetings my firm will participate in and when they take place. This allows me to raise rates for “wasted” time and Kumbayah management styles that largely are unproductive. |
